In electric cars capacitors are used to supply power to the electric motors and for reducing electromagnetic disturbances. High-voltage DC link capacitors represent another important area of application. Here the capacitor is mechanically connected with the IGBT in a modular construction. Above all, these capacitors must feature high temperature stability and current-carrying capacity. Noteworthy projects in this respect include a capacitor developed especially for use in a wheel hub motor.
