Amp-Trap 2000® AJT Class J Fuse

For optimum levels of safety and protection, the Amp-Trap 2000® AJT Class J fuse is the best choice for applications up to 600 amperes. There are many reasons to include the AJT in your designs, including:

  • Best degree of arc energy mitigation. Lower current-limiting thresholds and let-thru energies are the key features of this line of fuses. When applied properly for expected arc fault currents, incident energies at working distances of 18" can be less than 0.25 of calorie/cm².

  • Not interchangeable. Class RK1 fuses can be replaced with RK5 fuses, compromising protection levels and fuse coordination. Class J fuses are dimensionally unique, so they cannot be replaced with fuses offering lesser performance.
  • Easier system coordination. When you combine AJT fuses with other Amp-Trap 2000 fuses, such as the A4BQ Class L or AJT Class J, you can ensure a fully coordinated system by sizing upstream fuses at only twice the ampere rating.

  • Type "2" protection for motor starters. The AJT has been certified by starter manufacturers to provide Type "2" (No-Damage) short circuit protection of NEMA and IEC starters.

  • Reliable performance. Nuisance openings can expose workers to energized components. The AJT's time-delay feature (for overloads) and short circuit design allow temporary low-level overcurrents like motor starting currents and inrushes to pass without undesireable opening.

  • Can be used as a cable protector. The blades on the AJT (70A-600A) are designed to accept lugs and can be installed similar to cable limiters — a feature to consider in special situations where it might otherwise be impossible to add current limitation to a circuit.
